Who Needs Colon Hydrotherapy?
Nearly all of us! The colon is approximately 5 to 6 feet in length. Due to the Standard American Diet, (refined foods, flour, meat, fat, sugar, alcohol, preservatives) plus erratic eating habits and improper food combining, the average adult can have from 5 to 20 pounds of accumulated waste in the colon.
There are two types of constipation: One type is present when the fecal matter that passes from the body is hard and packed together. Another type is present when old, hardened feces sticks to the walls of the colon and does not pass out with the regular bowel movements. Constipated bowel movements are looked upon as normal stools, and few people have any inkling as to how much old, compacted fecal matter is chronically present within their bodies.
What are the Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy?
Our clients report: Better elimination, assimilation of foods, stress reduction and improvement of relief of:
Fatigue
Arthritis
Bad Breath
Gas/Bloating
Irritability
Abdominal Discomfort
Depression
Headaches
Skin Problems
Allergies
and more...
What Kind of Equipment is Being Used?
At Alternative Chiropractic: A Creating Wellness Center we proudly use the TOXYGEN ™ System, an exceptional, state-of-the-art colon therapy unit and Class II Medical device. This equipment includes a three-stage water filtration system, individual disposable instruments, and a lighted viewing chamber. It is a safe method of colon irrigation an not to be compared in anyway to other methods. In our office a qualified, trained Certified Colon Hydrotherapist will be in attendance throughout your entire session to insure you have a most pleasant experience.
What Is The Procedure?
A small, disposable speculum attached to the TOXYGEN ™ equipment allows water to gently flow into the colon. The water, plus light massage, dislodges toxic waste, mucus and fecal impactions, and is then gently washed away through the water hose. Several fills and releases are administered during one session, which lasts approximately 45 minutes.
WHAT IS THE COST?
As a new colon hydrotherapy client, you are booked for three visits within a (seven to ten day) period of time at a package price of $280.00. The purpose for these initial three visits is due to the shape of the colon/large intestine as well as the practitioners desire to administer gentle hydration which is needed to successfully begin fecal matter removal.
The first visit includes the completion of a health assessment form, a short educational video related to the importance of colon health, and a consultation with our Naturopath to discuss the client's eating habits, lifestyle, etc. The FIRST Colon Hydrotherapy session will conclude your visit for this day. Expect to be in the office about 2 1/2 hours for the first visit. The second and third visits within that seven to ten day period include the colon hydrotherapy session only. Expect to be in the office about 1 hour for the second and third visit. Please arrive about 10 minutes prior to your appointment time and plan to use the bathroom (in order to empty your bladder) as soon as you walk in. This will expedite your visit, prior to a staff member inviting you into the therapy room.
Once a client has completed the initial three visits, on-going individual sessions are available at $80.00 per session and last approximately one hour. A pre-pay package of six colon hydrotherapy sessions are available at a discounted price of $432.
Along with Colon Hydrotherapy, our practitioners will assist you in establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle program. Your participation for continued good health and well being is greatly encouraged.
WHY COLON HYGIENE?
Remember: Your colon is your sewage system. Neglect it, abuse it, and it becomes a cesspool. The result … the colon will distribute poisons of decay, fermentation and putrefaction throughout the body. Because of this you might experience:
Constipation
Poor Appetite
Cravings for Food
Overweight
Sagging Posture (Pot Belly)
Fatigue
Depression
Skin Problems
Allergies
Bad Breath
Irritability
Indigestion
and more…

Colon Hydrotherapy helps to remove trapped impurities, thus preventing the absorption of toxins into the blood stream.
What Happens During A Colon Hydrotherapy Session?
Colon Hydrotherapy is the safe, gentle infusion of water into the colon via the rectum. No chemicals or drugs are involved and the entire therapy is both relaxing and effective. During therapy the client lies on a custom treatment table in complete comfort. From the hydrotherapy equipment, a small disposable speculum is gently inserted into the rectum... through which warm filtered water passes into the colon.
Modern state-of-the-art colon hydrotherapy units employ multi-stage water purification systems, individual disposables which eliminate any possible contamination to the client from a previous treatment, a lighted viewing chamber and a system for additive administration.
These are closed systems... so waste is discretely transported into the drain line without offensive odor and without comprising the dignity of the individual. After each therapy session, the unit is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected in preparation for future use.
Our skilled colon hydrotherapist will use several fills and releases of water, as well as light massage techniques, to dislodge toxic waste matter adhering to the walls of the colon. The dislodged fecal impactions are then gently washed away though the system's waste disposal hose.
During the therapy, water temperature and pressure will be monitored by the therapist and can be varied to stimulate peristalsis (muscular contraction) in the colon. This is very important to help the atonic (sluggish) colon.
Properly administered... Colon Hydrotherapy is not addictive. It encourages the restoration of the colon's natural function by strengthening peristalsis.
Each colon hydrotherapy session lasts approximately 45 minutes and one should allow at least one hour per office visit. Initially, a series of three separate therapy sessions is usually recommended, as close together as possible to achieve the maximum cleansing benefit. This helps to eliminate fecal matter which may have been lodged in the colon for weeks, months, or even years, and to keep the client properly hydrated.
With colon hydrotherapy... the entire large intestine is cleansed and the therapeutic benefits are much greater than those achieved with an enema. Enema cleansings are limited to the rectum area and due to the body's natural wish to expel, are limited in duration. Over-the-counter suppositories stimulate expulsion of the contents of the rectum, but contribute to dehydration which may exacerbate a constipated condition.
During a typical colon hydrotherapy session, about 25 to 35 gallons of water will be transported into and out of the colon. Using a combination of abdominal massage (if consented), reflexology, breathing instruction and relaxation techniques... the colon therapist is often able to promote elimination of a volume of toxic waste, which would not otherwise be possible through individual efforts.
Just one colon hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to having 20 or 30 regular bowel movements. Eliminations during subsequent therapy sessions can be even more substantial as older, hardened, impacted feces are dislodged from the colon walls.
The colon hydrotherapist will carefully evaluate the client's progress during their session to determine how many additional sessions would be beneficial. After a therapy session, many people report a feeling of heightened energy, an increased sense of well-being and renewed vitality.
Almost certainly your colon will be cleaner... you may experience easier eliminations and your overall health status should be improved.
Colon hydrotherapy provides a proven way to cleanse your colon, and thereby to increase your chances of maintaining optimal health. But maintaining good health is an ongoing process which requires diligence... our Naturopathic Doctor can assist you with your future health goals.
After the initial series of 3 colon hydrotherapy sessions, you may be well advised to seek colon hydrotherapy every three to six months. In this way, you can maintain the benefits achieved during your first colon hydrotherapy sessions, as well as maintain a strong functioning colon. Your colon therapist should be able to suggest a reasonable schedule depending on your personal health status and desire for further therapy.
With some patience and discipline -- including the help of our experienced Certified Colon Hydrotherapist -- you have an opportunity to overcome serious health problems and start living a strong, healthy, disease free life.

Frequently we are asked, “Do you use an intestinal cleanser to prepare for colon therapy... to relieve constipation... or to maintain good colon health and hygiene?”
The answer is... Yes!
We've tried many different intestinal cleansers over the years and effectiveness varies greatly. All are dependent on pre-existing colon health and the amount of water you consume on a daily basis. The use of an intestinal cleanser may not be appropriate for those who have particularly sensitive, or diseased colons... But for the vast majority there are exceptionally good reasons to use an all-natural intestinal cleanser!

The Twelve Most Frequently Asked Questions about Colon Hydrotherapy
1. Is colon hydrotherapy safe?
Yes. In fact with new colon therapy equipment, treatments are much safer than the common enema.
2. How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema?
An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy, the entire length of the colon (the large intestinal tract approximately 5 to 5½ feet in length) is reached. Colon hydrotherapy is many more times effective. According to learned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, “One colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas.”
3. Do the treatments hurt?
No. In fact many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.
4. How much of the intestines are actually cleansed during a colon hydrotherapy treatment?
During a treatment it is possible for a professional colon therapist to cleanse the full length of the colon (large intestine). The small intestine are not specifically involved in a colon hydrotherapy treatment. The small intestine may be cleansed with the help of an oral (herb-based) intestinal cleanser.
5. Should I see my doctor before my first colon hydrotherapy session?
If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should consult a doctor. If you are diagnosed with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe hemorrhoids, rectal or intestinal tumors, you would not be a candidate for colon hydrotherapy treatments. Professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is safe, and generally if you are free of the above sited conditions, a medical examination prior to therapy, should not be necessary.
6. Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy machine?
Modern colon hydrotherapy equipment utilize pre-sterilized, disposable hoses and speculums. These disposables are used only once during a single therapy session. Properly administered, there is absolutely no danger of contamination.
7. How long does a treatment take?
Actual treatment time is about 45 minutes, but you should plan a total session visit of one hour in duration.
8. Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session have any effect on the treatment?
No, in fact it's usually a good time to receive a treatment, since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.
9. What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing?
Refrain from eating before the cleansing, be as relaxed as possible and maintain a positive, cheerful attitude.
10. Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing?
Usually not, but since the cleansing will stir up a lot of old debris and toxins, you might experience some minor nausea or fatigue. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to rest and apply a warm heating pad to the abdomen. If you wish, a mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea is usually soothing at this time. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours.
11. Do I need to take acidophilus after a colon cleansing because intestinal flora has been washed out of the colon?
It is recommended to use acidophilus, but not because the treatment washes out intestinal flora. Colon hydrotherapy cleansings do not wash out intestinal flora. Taking acidophilus subsequent to a colon cleansing is beneficial, because it helps to improve the bacterial balance in the colon. The best method is to implant the flora rectally the evening after your final therapy session, or if you prefer, to drink acidophilus for 2 weeks after the final therapy session.
12. Can I work directly after having a colon hydrotherapy?
Certainly. You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.
